Project Description
For this Project we had to scale something of our choice either bigger or smaller. For example if you were scaling a gummy bear up by about 4x then the gummy bear model would be 4x bigger that the original. For my product I made a KFC bucket 3x as big as the original.During this whole project we had to turn in three different benchmarks as we went along. Leading up to this project we made a poster and did worksheets related to the concepts we were learning which was things such as congruency etc. We also learned about reflection, mirroring, rotation and translation, etc. The purpose of this project was to teach us about these concepts and how some of them are related to what we are doing.
Understanding Concepts
Throughout this year so far we learned a lot about many topics including similarity, proportion, dilation etc. The relationship between similarity and proportion is that if something is similar that usually means that it's not exactly the same but also not a different shape all together, just the proportions on it are the same but the size can change or the fact that it's upside down and things like that. For example if you had a triangle and you took that triangle made a copy and shrunk it then now they are similar. If the proportions are off such as the shape is different or a side does not really go then the shapes are not similar they are really just two shapes. This also goes with dilation because dilation is basically changing the shapes size but having the shape stay the same which makes the shapes similar.

Benchmark
The first benchmark we had to do was make a brief description of what we are going to do for our product. For my product I said I was going to supersize a KFC bucket. I also wrote the materials I was thinking of using for it. For the second benchmark we had to do sketches of our model with the calculations on it. For mine I made a before and after sketch of my bucket. I then did the calculations by multiplying the individual lengths by three since I was scaling it three times. For our third benchmark we had to bring our products in that we made. The KFC bucket I made was created with paper and paint. We also had to do a group and self reflection.
Reflection
I think that I did really good on this project because I turned my things in on time and our product looks pretty good to me considering time issues and other problems like lack of materials. Something I would most definitely change about it is to maybe get better paper or cardboard because the one we used is very flimsy and can't actually stand as a bucket. Since it is flimsy it needs us to hold it open so it can actually look like a bucket. I learned a lot about these concepts because before I was really confused but now I think I know what most of these things are. We are going to be having an exhibition where all of our products can be seen in December. I am planning on revising the product for exhibition so it looks better.
