Project Description |
Art Piece |
The name of this project was "All the Bright Places". For this project we had to pick one of the given mental illnesses and create a case report explaining the symptoms, treatment, statistics etc. After we finished that we then had to create a creative story based that involved a person who had our illness. The illness my partner and I got was DPD or Dependent Personality Disorder. DPD is a personality disorder that causes someone to come off as needy and clingy. They rely on people a lot and tend to be victims that stay in abusive relationships. Some other symptoms include:

Down below is the piece my partner and I made. We made it as a way to make our anxiety into a person or a human like figure. As you can see me and her perceived it differently. We chose to do this because it is a way to help with anxiety which is usually a symptom of DPD. It helps you visualize and put a face on your anxiety.

What I Learned
Through out this project I learned a lot about my mental illness and some facts about other peoples illnesses as well. Before this project I didn't know that half the illnesses existed. Some of their names were very confusing and new to me. I picked mine because it stood out to me while we were doing a little research on all of them to see which one we would like to do. When I was reading about DPD I could tell that this defiantly seems like it can be kinda hard to be diagnosed because the people who don't know about this might think that they are just a little clingy.
I did learn a lot from the book. While reading this book I had a lot of emotions. A lot of them weren't good emotions either because its a very sad book. It hits too close to home. I just think about how some people don't give a cry for help before being gone and honestly sometimes you cant help. You just cant and I don't understand why. In this book the main character was answering someone else's cry for help. He ignored his own and seemed so ok with it. He knew something was wrong. I really wish I didn't read this book because it drew a lot of parallels to my life.

Exhibition
Overall the exhibition for this project was pretty nice. It went well for my partner and I. It did come out of no where and I was a little bit confused at first but then I understood. Our exhibition looked nice and the people who actually came to it seemed to like it. I presented my case report and my big art piece. There was only a few people who made it to my booth but they said that they liked it and seemed to enjoy my activity. Exhibition was pretty successful though because it was fun for everyone even the my classmates.
